Mad Art Gallery (2727 South Twelfth Street) hosts an opening reception for two new exhibitions. In Fairy Fatales, Brian Cummings presents images that tell the other side of beloved stories, giving a glimpse into the bad guys' point of view. Meanwhile Michelle Cox sheds light on previously hidden components of stories, bringing abandoned spaces back to life. The exhibits open with a free reception Friday, September 7, from 7 to 11 p.m., and remain on display (by appointment only) Tuesday through Saturday until September 29.
