Farmer Wants A Drink

Farming has to be one of the loneliest jobs out there. Think about it: These folks sit on tractors and combines and whatever all day long with just their thoughts and their crops to keep them company, and they typically live in single dwellings miles from the nearest grocery store or neighbor. At times the solitude is probably peaceful, but we're thinking that there are other times when a farmer just wants to be surrounded by people. At the Big Kahuna Celebrity Bartender Challenge, happening from 6 to 10 p.m. at Side Pockets (1439 Bass Pro Drive, St. Charles; 636-724-9300), at least one farmer will be out and about and making friends. Farmer Matt from Farmer Wants a Wife will be one of the celebrity bartenders — along with Rick Wallace and Van Lorenz (both from WARH 106.5 FM) — and they all will be competing via tip jar for the title of "Big Kahuna." You, dear readers, will be the tippers (and the drinkers), and your $5 cover and the rest of the proceeds from the evening benefit Community Living (www.cliservices.org), an organization that provides services for people with disabilities.
