Feel the Fall

Seasonal love

Here autumn has begun, and you haven't even celebrated its arrival in any way. For shame! You haven't baked the season any pumpkin cupcakes, and you certainly haven't decked your abode in burnt oranges and deep reds. But fall isn't mad atcha! At least not yet. If you drop by the Best of Missouri Market, the season is bound to let bygones be bygones, because at this event, you'll have an opportunity to revel in all that makes fall the special season it is. The market is held at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; www.mobot.org or 314-577-9400), and it features the edible results of this year's harvest, including produce, nuts and mushrooms, as well as other items like jewelry, willow furniture and wreaths (to deck those halls, no doubt). Admission to the market costs $3 to $10, and you can browse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday (October 4 and 5). And while you're in the nabe, you should also have a look around at the Historic Shaw Art Fair (Flora Place and Tower Grove Avenue; www.shawartfair.com). Admission is $5, and artists from all over the country offer up pretty things to purchase from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
