Irish Eyes Are Smiling

At the Irish Country Fair

There's a saying that everyone has a bit o' the Irish in them, so even if your ancestors never sailed past the Emerald Isle, and whiskey doesn't meet your definition of "water of life," you can still kick up your heels at the fifteenth annual Irish Country Fair & Music Fest. From noon to 7 p.m. at St. James the Greater School (1360 Tamm Avenue), you can catch Irish singing, dancing and hurling demonstrations. There will also be plenty of Irish food (like Irish soda bread) and beverages, arts and crafts, and children's games. Free admission and parking will have you dancing quite the jig, but leave the cooler at home and bring a lawn chair — just in case your dancing shoes wear out. For more information about the festival, call 314-752-7810 or visit www.stlhibernians.org.
