Livin' at the Movies

New Year's Eve falls on a Monday this year, which is always a hard night for the motivationally challenged. Take advantage of the long weekend to indulge in some pregaming by hitting up the Speakeasy Cinema Burlesque at 9 p.m. Friday (December 28 through January 25) at the Jumpin' Jupiter (7376 Manchester Road, Maplewood; 314-606-3051 or www.thejumpinjupiter.com). This burlesque tribute to classic and cult films stars dancers Axel O'Toole, Betty Rocket and Little Dolly Fae, and they'll be paying homage to their favorite flicks the only way they know how -- with a little bump and grind. Not to spoil any surprises, but if you've always envisioned a sexy version of Ghostbusters' famous green ghost Slimer, this is the show for you. Get your engine running now so you're ready for the big night out. Admission is $15 for two people; VIP options are available. Active-duty military personnel are always free. In fact, a portion of the evening's proceeds are being donated to the USO as a Christmas gift to the troops.
Fridays. Starts: Dec. 28. Continues through Jan. 25, 2012
