MO' War

Right now is a great time to be one of us -- i.e., one of the many people with a perpetual fascination for the Civil War and its deep meaning within American history. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the commencement of hostilities at Fort Sumter, but you don't have to live in South Carolina, Virginia or Maryland to reap the fruit of all the commemorations and special events; we'll have them on tap right here in Missouri, the state that saw the third-highest tally of battles and skirmishes during the war. St. Louis County Parks and Friends of Jefferson Barracks host the new exhibit The Civil War in Missouri, which focuses on those many engagements fought here. The exhibition takes place in the Old Ordnance Room at Jefferson Barracks Historic Park (533 Grant Road; 314-544-6224), and admission is free.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 6. Continues through Dec. 30, 2011
