Nothing Beats Viets

Not even a dead-end job

Everyone can picture a country club like the Superior and imagine who its members are. They're the sorts of people who fake a "little-ole-me" attitude with their peers at parties just as they mercilessly boss the staff in the same breath. Dumb rich people. That's how Helen Hawthorne feels, anyway. But when some of the people associated with the club wind up dead, even she wants to get to the bottom of the mysteries. Find out more about Helen's efforts to learn whodunit, and meet (former) St. Louisan Elaine Viets — she actually worked undercover in a country club for research — when Viets discusses and signs Clubbed to Death, the latest in her "Dead-End Job Mystery" series. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 South Lindbergh Boulevard, Frontenac; 314-994-3300 or www.slcl.org), and admission is free.
