Pressing Matters

Holiday shopping looms

Each year, holiday cheer is dampened by thoughtless, last-minute gifts. There's nothing quite as bummerific as watching Uncle Merv's face fall when he opens yet another box of socks. Put plenty of feliz into everyone's Navidad by doing your holiday shopping at the Cherokee Print League Holiday Sale. This event, which brings together talented artists and printmakers from the St. Louis area, is the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts. You can begin your browsing at the Firecracker Press (2838 Cherokee Street), which is presenting the sale. Then, stop in other participating shops, including City Art Supply (3215 Cherokee Street), Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts (3151 Cherokee Street), All Along Press (3155 Cherokee Street; a piece from there is pictured) and more. The civic-minded shopfest lasts from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and you'll find great prices on everything from T-shirts to greeting cards to posters. Call Firecracker at 314-776-7271 for more information.
