Presto Pesto

Lean, green and pretty tasty, actually

The best things in life are green: four-leaf clovers, money, living houseplants, emeralds and, most important, pesto. At least that last one is most important during the Great Green Pesto Feast, a dinner held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church's fellowship hall (6199 Waterman Boulevard). All kinds of gourmet pestos will be served, including cinnamon pesto, no-nut pesto and vegan pesto. And for those who prefer the other end of the color spectrum, tomato dishes will also be offered. The Gateway Green Alliance (www.gateway-greens.org) hosts the vegetarian supper, and the overall theme isn't just the color green, but green living, specifically "Affordable Green Energy or Catastrophic Nukes?" a topic discussed by three speakers. To learn more about this dinner, call 314-727-8554; admission costs $20 at the door.
