Return to A Silly Place

Monty Python and the Holy Grail continues to strike a chord with a particular demographic, even after 38 years. What is it about the air speed of an unladen swallow and enchanters named Tim that so appeals to young people? Eric Idle's musical adaptation of the film, Monty Python's Spamalot, continues the anarchic romp through the Dark Ages, but with a persistent soundtrack. All your favorites are here: Sir Bedevere, the psychotic Lancelot, the unkillable Black Knight and even that watery tart, the Lady of the Lake. King Arthur is of course present and played by John O'Hurley, who has his own eternal appeal thanks to his role as J. Peterman on Seinfeld. Sound the fanfare, grab your coconuts and gallop to the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org) for Spamalot. The show plays at 8:15 p.m. Monday through Sunday (June 17 through 23), and tickets are $12 to $80.
