Preserving a vision of nature in artwork is a good idea. But actually preserving nature is a better thought, and thanks to the Missouri Coalition for the Environment's eARThworks 2009 exhibition and art auction, you'll be able to do a little of both — that is, help the Earth while appreciating some fine artwork. Just head to the Gallery at the Regional Arts Commission (6128 Delmar Boulevard) at 6 p.m., and get ready to place some bids. All kinds of artists — from Christine Holtz to Tom Huck, and from RFT's own Jennifer Silverberg to Nancy Newman Rice — have donated works for the auction in all manner of media. Many of the pieces are nature-inspired, and all of them will help support the Missouri Coalition for the Environment (314-727-0600 or www.moenviron.org), an organization that works to preserve our state's public lands and improve our air and water quality. Admission to the fundraiser costs $35, and drinks are only two bucks — which leaves more money for the artwork and the cause!
