Send in the Clowns

A certain Night & Day freelancer (we won't name names, but she knows who she is) is completely and totally afraid of clowns. When you merely mention the painted-faced ones around her, her eyes'll widen, and she'll confess her phobia — her coulrophobia to be exact. Now, we're no psychologists here at Night & Day Global Industries, but we're thinking that if she associated clowns with something she enjoys, say cocktails, things might change for her on the clown front. So from our lofty spot in the office, we'd like to recommend that she, and all of the rest of you, attend the fourth annual Cocktails & Clowns benefit at F15teen (1900 Locust Street). This fundraiser, which is held from 7 to 10 p.m., is put on by the Young Friends of St. Louis Children's Hospital, and it does include a brief clown appearance, lots of cocktails, plenty of fun, tons of raffle items and a sampling of appetizers. Trust, a good time will be had by all, even the fearful ones. So go ahead and purchase your $40 tickets by calling 314-286-1549 or visiting www.stlouischildrens.org/youngfriends, and remember: You're doing it for the kiddos the hospital helps.
