St. Louis is in the running to be named the best zoo in the U.S. as part of a USA Today 10 Best contest. From now until 11 a.m. CST on March 27, you can vote as often as once each day for our city's prized attraction to beat out nineteen other finalists. The top ten zoos will be announced on March 31.

"Situated within the nation’s largest urban park, the free-to-the-public St. Louis Zoo features a stunning diversity of animals – more than 600 species in total," USA Today's description reads. It goes on to talk about the zoo's six different zones, Sea Lion Sound and the various animals featured.

Now, we all know Saint Louis Zoo is the greatest, but apparently the Gannett paper's readers haven't figured it out yet; St. Louis was beaten by Toledo Zoo in the same contest in 2014. This year Toledo doesn't appear to be on the list, but we still face competition from San Diego, Chicago, New York and even Disney's Animal Kingdom and Busch Gardens.

As of press time, the Saint Louis Zoo had notched second place behind Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha. C'mon, people, we can do better than Omaha!
