Stream of Art-Consciousness

To many kings of the road, the Airstream trailer is as beautiful a work of art as anything hanging in the Louvre. Studio potter Alleghany Meadows takes that ideal of art one step further with the Art-Stream Gallery (www.art-stream.com), a unique exhibition space he founded within a 1967 Airstream Sovereign camper. The silver-bullet-cum-art gallery-on-wheels travels the country, bringing contemporary ceramics shows and workshops to wherever it rolls to a stop. Lucky for us, the modified Airstream sets up shop Monday and Tuesday (March 19 and 20) at the St. Louis Community College-Meramec (11333 Big Bend Road; 314-984-7632). Three ceramists offer an instructional session, and viewing the pottery (and buying it) is also encouraged. The Art-Stream Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday; admission is free.
