We're All Ears

Growing up, we all learned valuable lessons from TV, thanks to those loveable Muppets on Sesame Street and the wacky Looney Tunes characters. This latter group taught us all about anvils, Acme products, Martians, the cleverness of rabbits and even classical music. Who can forget Bugs and Elmer Fudd in "Rabbit of Seville," with the scalp massage, the tossed salad, the quickie marriage and more, all to music from Rossini's The Barber of Seville? That's a classic cartoon right there, people. And you haven't seen it in years! For shame! The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra presents a perfect opportunity for you to correct the error of your current un-Looney life with Bugs Bunny on Broadway, a concert-cartoon experience happening at Powell Symphony Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard). During this event a variety of Warner Bros. cartoons are projected on the big screen — including the beloved "Rabbit of Seville" — and our very own Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra plays the original scores live. It'll be like sitting around in your jammies and watching TV on a Saturday morning, but better: The music will be beautifully showcased, and that screen is way bigger than any television you ever had.
