The prize for winning River Styx's Schlafly MicroFiction MicroBrew Contest isn't a boring certificate or plaque or something else lame — it's $1,500 and two cases of Schlafly beer. Finally, a writing contest Night & Day can get behind! At 7 p.m. at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street; 314-241-2337), you will get to hear the winner's microfiction work (a story that's 500 words or less) as well as the submitted pieces by the runners-up. Plus, all attendees get to try their hand at crafting a nanofiction story — one that must be told in 25 words or less! The winner of this little contest (ha!) takes home a sixer of Schlafly, another great prize. To learn more about tonight's reading event, visit www.riverstyx.org. Admission is $3.
