Mike Shannon, former Cardinals player and current radio-host-turned-restauranteur is at it again. The owners of Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood (620 Market Street; 314-421-1540) are opening Mike Shannon's Grill (871 South Arbor Vitae, Edwardsville, Illinois; 618-655-9911), an upscale-casual eatery, this Friday, March 15, in Edwardsville, Illinois.
The new grill is located in the same shopping center as Peel Wood-Fired Pizza (921 South Arbor Vitae, Edwardsville, Illinois; 618-659-8561). According to a press release from SYNERGY Productions, the restaurant has "a vintage athletic club look accented with modern industrial design elements." There are also eighteen flat-screen televisions (to watch sports, of course) and a whole slew of baseball memorabilia, much of which is from Shannon's personal collection.

"At the steakhouse, we take more of a Hall of Fame approach while, at Mike Shannon's Grill, the approach will be more personal, like you just walked into Big Mike's man-cave," explains co-owner Pat Shannon-VanMatre in the press release.
The grill will serve "comfort cuisine" in three distinct dining areas: a family-friendly dining room, a sports bar and an outdoor patio overlooking Plum Creek. Prices will range from $10 sandwiches to entrees around $15 and signature steaks that go up in price from there.
According to the press release, "menu highlights include oven-roasted Amish chicken infused with wild mushroom and truffle, plancha-seared salmon, a poached pear salad, and the Shannon's signature blend burger." The restaurant will also carry 40 wines and sixteen beers available on tap, in addition to bottled beverages.
Mike Shannon's Grill will open Friday at 4 p.m. The regular dining hours will be Monday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 4-11 p.m. and Sunday 4-9 p.m. Lunch service will be instituted later.
