For some vegan and vegetarian-friendly options, head out to PuraVegan (307 Belt Avenue; 314-932-5144) and try some new menu items as well as crowd favorites. The gluten-free specialty café (not to mention yoga studio) recently shifted its limited dinner-only hours to include daytime breakfast and lunch service.

"We're making crazy amounts of juice and smoothies for people, and we get to have more fun with the menu now," says owner Monica Stoutenborough. "We're working with Riverbend Roots, the organic local produce CSA, and getting more creative with the menu."

Try a "Go Green" salad ($8) with three kinds of greens, lemon-parsley tahini dressing, cucumber, chickpeas, pita and avocado; a housemade raw sunflower burger ($11) served with jicama fries; or a "Detox" smoothie ($8 for regular size; $11 for "huge") with dandelion greens, hemp seeds, goji berries, strawberries and banana.

PuraVegan's new hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to extended cafe hours, PuraVegan also added more donation-based yoga classes to its schedule and expanded its cleansing detox program.
