Dewey's Pizza-Kirkwood

A Cincinnati-based chain that doesn't look, act or taste like a chain at all, Dewey's ranked as one of St. Louis' better-quality pizza joints the moment it opened its doors in downtown Kirkwood. The pizza's ruler-thin crust resembles St. Louis-style visually, but blessedly it embodies New York-style's perfect crispness. Any of the dozen specialty pies (topped with anything from workmanlike sausage and pepperoni to hippy-dippy Amish chicken and pine nuts) will prove crowd-pleasing to patrons young and old. Salads and calzones are delicious too; short lists of agreeable wines and high-end beers round out the meal nicely. A great date place, a great place to take the kids, a fine pizzeria overall.
