Steak and Rice

Not exactly meat and potatoes, Steak and Rice serves up an array of familiar and inspirational Chinese fare at the intersection of Kirkwood and Big Bend roads. Inside the unassuming building, diners will find a traditional, Chinese restaurant setting and a classy but casual atmosphere, along with a large menu. House specialties include General Tsao's prawns in that familiar, spicy garlic-and-ginger sauce; green jade scallops sautéed with mushrooms, broccoli and water chestnuts; and the restaurant's namesake steak and rice, a filet mignon served in a sweet sauce, sautéed with vegetables and served over a bed of white rice. Standard beef, chicken, pork, duck and seafood dishes round out the entrée menu, including such dishes as shredded Szechuan-style beef, hot-braised chicken wings and duck with Chinese vegetables. Carryout available is available, and Steak and Rice is closed on Sundays.
