Jon Hardy & the Public Emerges With A New Video for "A Hard Year"

Jon Hardy & the Public has just released a video for the title track off last year's A Hard Year EP. In it, our intrepid hero runs through a snowy forest with a flare -- the perfect accompaniment to a song that always seemed like it warranted reckless abandon. The concept for the piece came out of discussions between Tony and I during the end of the fall last year," says Hardy.

"Tony wanted to make sure that the video helped support the anthemic and earnest quality of the song while maintaining a life of its own as well." He's referring there to Tony Gaddis of The Fountain Studio, who directed the video and is a longtime collaborator with the band. Watch below.

"The bulk of the shooting was done on some cold December nights in the Missouri woods and then some pickup shots were done in and around St. Louis," says Hardy.

The band's next big thing is its LouFest set -- Hardy says most of the collective attention is on that at the moment. "Once that's taken care of, we'll be looking for new ears both in town and elsewhere," he says. As far as new recordings, Jon Hardy & the Public has been working with Benjamin Balcom in Chicago, a producer, engineer and composer who has been involved in a huge variety of projects including Atlas Sound.
