Mount Eerie's Phil Elvrum (or Elverum, depending on his mood) is from Anacortes, an unassuming little city nestled among Northwest Washington's islands and bays. For more than a decade, he and various friends and colleagues have crafted low-key songs precisely evoking the area's misty, imposing natural beauty. For his latest album, Lost Wisdom, Elvrum has teamed up with Maritime music legend Julie Doiron (Eric's Trip, Broken Girl) and Fred Squire. The resulting song set sounds like it was recorded in a remote cabin after a deadly avalanche, with Doiron's plaintive vocals and lyrics adding just the right amount of warmth to Elvrum's lonesome, oddly comforting melodies. Elvrum and Doiron will both play solo sets at the Lemp, and Doiron and Squire's side project, Calm Down, It's Monday, will open.
