Police charged St. Louis Cardinals fan Bobby Metzinger, 30, with making a terrorist threat Wednesday after he tweeted about bombing the World Series to keep the Boston Red Sox from winning.
In an apparent reference to the Boston Marathon bombings, Metzinger tweeted, "The #WorldSeries will be another finish line not crossed by #Boston."
Metinger's Twitter handle has been deleted, but the account @BestFansStLouis, which re-tweets offensive, violent and racist posts from Cardinals fans, shared some of the tweets before they were erased.
The court ordered Metzinger, who lives in the 1500 block of Locust Street, to undergo a mental evaluation to assess his mental state when he sent the tweets late last week.
In a tweet referencing a punk song about shooting innocent people, Metzinger wrote:

Even the Iron Sheik, an Iranian professional wrestler known for provocative, curse-word-riddled tweets, knew Metzinger's tweets were just not OK.
"I wasn't going to take any chances with the safety of the fans and Major League Baseball," says St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Sam Dotson, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We follow through on threats like this all the time, but certainly everyone's attention is heightened because of the World Series."
Metzinger posted his $11,000 bond and is ordered to remain under house arrest until his hearing next month.
A graduate of Saint Louis University, Metzinger works in public relations, most notably tweeting at @unemployedinPR about finding jobs and freelance work. Metzinger was recently fired from Group 360 Worldwide, a marketing firm.
