All the Oyster Lovers We Saw at Schlafly's Stout and Oyster Festival

The Schlafly Stout and Oyster Festival kicked off this past weekend as hundreds of St. Louisans swarmed the Schlafly Bottleworks parking lot in Maplewood with two goals in mind: to drink beer and eat oysters.

Live music filled the tents in the parking lot as shuckers served up a seemingly endless supply of oysters from both the East and West coasts. To complement the oysters, attendees knocked back stouts sourced from a brewery whose kegs couldn't have been geographically more convenient to the festival — Schafly itself.

Whether they ate their bivalves raw or fried, festivalgoers piled their plates high in hopes of reaching oyster nirvana. Judging by the happy faces shown in those photos from the RFT's Zachary Linhares, we suspect many succeeded. Scroll down for the highlights.
