Chilanguita Mexican Kitchen (6997 Chippewa Street, 314-833-3055) opened in Lindenwood Park early last summer, bringing with it the flavors of Mexico City, artifacts from places such as Oaxaca and Tulum and a dining room and bar made festive with a Dias de los Muertos theme. Its menu celebrates the heritage of owners Oscar Elias, Marco Belmont and Jose Vladimir Ramirez and plays with some soon-to-be cross-cultural favorites such as a birria pizza and ramen.
RFT Dining Critic Alexa Beattie immediately warmed to Chilanguita's strong house margarita showing as well as the guacamole, which she calls "bright, nicely chunked and delicately peppered." Things got better from there with street tacos, deliciously greasy pork al pastor and more.
