A Very Important Date

If Tim Burton’s interpretation of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson’s masterpiece, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, left you unsatisfied, perhaps the Koken Art Factory (2500 Ohio Avenue; 314-776-7600 or www.kokenartfactory.com) can give you the fix for which you were looking. More than 50 local and regional artists contributed to the Koken’s new exhibition, simply titled Alice. The emphasis here is not on the innocence of Alice but rather the more disturbing and complex themes modern critics have discovered buried in the surreal layers of Wonderland. In addition to the two-dimensional works, local bands Brown Bottle Fever and Sinfinis perform, as do the dancers of Exotic Rhythms Belly Dance and the STL Hoop Club. You can go through the looking glass tonight only from 7 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $5.
