In 2011, MADCO partnered with the percussion students of the University of Missouri-St. Louis music department to create an original dance concert they named Pulse. The percussionists composed original music, for which dancers choreographed new pieces. The collaboration was so successful that both parties decided to do it again -- exactly as before, and yet completely different. Again the percussionists have crafted brand-new musical numbers, and once again the dancers have choreographed new movements. So, MADCO: Pulse II -- The Rhythm Continues, is just like last time -- only better. Pulse II is performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (January 31 through February 2) at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the UMSL campus (1 University Boulevard at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org). Tickets are $15 to $25.
