Giving the fun and fashionable way

The health-care center La Clinica focuses on providing services to the refugee and immigrant populations of St. Louis. The work the staffers and volunteers do is vital to these communities, and the clinic cannot survive without your help. To lend a hand, you could visit La Clinica's website (www.laclinica-stl.org) and make a much-appreciated donation — but what fun is there in that? Instead, why don't you head down to the East Bank building (at 1511 Washington Avenue) for a Latin Fashion Show fundraising event for the center? The doors open at 6 p.m., and the show will get going around 8 p.m. (some models are pictured). Featured will be fashions from Goodwill — hey, we're all on a budget — as well as two floors of dancing and good times. Throw in food, drinks and the charitable element, and you've got yourself a festive and fun night out. Tickets to the benefit cost $20 for general admission (one free drink included) or $50 for the VIP treatment (featuring an open bar and reserved seating for the runway show); to make a purchase, call the office of newspaper (and event sponsor) El Mundo Latino at 314-241-0505.
