Dance the Day Away

In a season full of crowded parking lots, long lines and busy schedules, perhaps short and sweet really is best. The Center of Creative Arts' student ballet company, Ballet Eclectica, keeps this fact in mind when the group presents The Little Dancer: A Winter Journey, an hour-long performance at COCA (524 Trinity Avenue, University City). This original work was inspired by the Saint Louis Art Museum's Degas dancer sculpture, and the story follows a young girl who can dance within artworks. The choreography ranges from classical ballet to modern dance, and video projections are also incorporated into the show. Tickets cost $10, and performances happen at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday (December 15 and 16). For an additional $12, enjoy a tea party with the dancers after the first performance each day. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 314-725-1834 or visit www.cocastl.org.
