The St. Louis-born Charles Eames and his wife, Ray, revolutionized furniture design in the twentieth century. In fact, these two made so many wonderful loungers, sofas, chairs and stools that they needed something to do while they sat around and tested out all of their creations. So the pair entered the world of filmmaking. Well, maybe that's not exactly how the Eameses became cinematographers, but they sure did make a ton of films. See seven of their short works — including the famous Powers of Ten, which takes you ten times farther away from a picnic every ten seconds and back, down to the inside of an atom — during the Eames Film Festival from 7 to 10 p.m. at Design Within Reach (42 Maryland Plaza; 314-361-1701 or www.dwr.com). This film program is free and includes refreshments and a special presentation from Eames Demetrios, Charles' grandson.
