Garden State

Every trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-9400 or www.mobot.org) yields a new bloom, a new view, a new sensory experience. And though the garden is most readily recognized as a delight for the eyes and nose, the ears get into the mix during the thirteenth annual Whitaker Music Festival. Each Wednesday starting at 7:30 p.m. through August 8, the free concerts are as colorful as the grounds, with jazz, blues-rock and zydeco all bursting like flower buds from the Cohen Amphitheater. On Wednesday, June 6, enjoy the music of renowned jazz trumpeter and vocalist Jeremy Davenport as he kicks off the series.
Wednesdays. Starts: June 6. Continues through Aug. 8
