New Voices in Film

The proliferation of digital technology has resulted in just about anybody being able to make a movie. But just because you can doesn't always mean you should; ideally you have something to say in your film, even if this something is delivered in the dream imagery of a strictly visual language. The Webster Film and Video Society is a student organization dedicated to helping young filmmakers find the best ways to say something in film. One weekend a year, the WFVS hosts a film festival so its members can show off what they're working on right now. This is that weekend. At 6 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in Webster University's Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; www.wfvs.net), the WFVS hosts a Bollywood-themed reception for the filmmakers and the general public. Wear your Bollywood best and enjoy free food and entertainment, then adjourn to the theater for the screening of new works.
