One Day at a Time

Alex Paradowski made a commitment to himself that he would take a different photograph in Forest Park every day for a year. If you’ve ever tried to maintain any sort of regimen, you know how difficult it is to stick with it on certain days. Paradowski stayed the course, however, and the fruits of his labor are a huge photo collection and the book FP365, which contains some of the most compelling shots taken during the project. With the “no repeat” clause he set for himself, Paradowski ended up taking pictures of more than just locations or settings in the park, although several of the park’s iconic statues and monuments made the cut; images of people enjoying the park also crept in, capturing the true nature of the city’s largest green space. Forest Park is there for all of us to enjoy, and so it’s natural that the citizens would be a major part of the book. Paradowski discusses FP365, shooting in all sorts of weather, and what he thinks of the park now that he really knows it, in the free program A Year in Forest Park in One Evening tonight at 7 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org).
