Snaps for Ginger

Just as it's never too early to start this year's Christmas shopping (the holiday is only eleven months away!), it's never too soon to begin planning the most romantic Valentine's Day ever. Of course, the essentials (flowers, food and fornication) would never be possible without the almighty fourth element: ginger! (And you thought we were going to say chocolate — psst, it's so last year.) If you want to send your lover's taste buds into a euphoric spin, then the Desserts with Ginger cooking class at the Clarkson Dierbergs' School of Cooking (1322 Clarkson-Clayton Center, Ellisville; www.dierbergs.com) is for you. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the talented home economist Ginger Gall shares her wealth of knowledge about the root. You'll learn how to make a ginger cream pie, maple-ginger cookies and a gingerbread cake with caramel sauce. The class fee is $35, and space is limited.
