Song of the South

There's something special about the Looking Glass Playhouse. This community theater group has officially been around since 1973, and its members cleaned up, renovated and eventually purchased their own performance space — what a novel idea! If you'd like to see a dream fulfilled and the fruits, or perhaps the standing ovations, of their labor, head over to the Looking Glass Playhouse Theater (301 West St. Louis Street, Lebanon, Illinois) for Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific. With the star-crossed love stories and the songs ("I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair," anyone?), this musical, which is set during World War II, sounds just like a dream! You can catch South Pacific Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. until Sunday, May 21; tickets cost $7.50 to $9. For more information about this little-theater- company-that-could and how to purchase tickets, call 618-537-4962 or visit www.lookingglassplayhouse.com.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: May 11. Continues through May 21
