A video has surfaced on YouTube of David Letterman's monologue from a 1997 episode of the Late Show featuring an exclusively St. Louis audience.

In the video, posted by St. Louis TV and radio personality JC Corcoran, Letterman sings praise for the city, even busting out his very special Budweiser twist-off toupee and offering the whole audience a year's worth of Purina Audience Chow.

You might not know it, but Letterman admits that his secret retirement fantasy is to open a movie theater in Branson.

"From New York, where everyone in the audience is from St. Louis, it's the Late Show with David Letterman," says announcer Alan Kalter.

Letterman tries to make light of Lawrence Phillips' legal trouble, but over a decade later Rams fans are still feeling the sting from that bust. Though it's not on YouTube, the show ends with a performance by St. Louis's own Chuck Berry. Catch the video before YouTube has to take it down.

The audio is not quite (by like two seconds) synced up the video, but what can you expect from a bootlegged YouTube video?
