What's the Word?

There's a word in the English language that's got groove, and it's got meaning, along with time, place and motion. This single-syllable word is so powerful that just one mention of it may cause people to break into a chorus of song about sundown in summertime, or fast cars, or even their true love. This week, the Muny will be full of these sorts of people, out to enjoy "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightning" and "We Go Together," along with all of the other memorable songs in Grease -- it's the word, dontcha know? -- as well as the noteworthy cast, which includes St. Louis native Phyllis Smith from The Office and Missouri native Taylor Louderman as Sandy (pictured). To join these folks as they moon over the beloved good-girl-meets-bad-boy tale, head to Forest Park at 8:15 p.m. any evening from Thursday, July 31, through Friday, August 8. Tickets for the show cost $14 to $85; call 314-361-1900 or visit www.muny.org.
