J.J. Twig's Pizza & Pub

JJ Twig's is a throwback to the pizza parlors of yesteryear: small, dark and unpretentious. The specialty of the house is the "double-decker" pizza. This looks likes a normal thick-crust pizza when whole. Only when you take the first slice can you see the setup: a thin crust at the bottom, then a thin layer of sauce, then another thin crust and then the sauce, cheese and topping. It's more a gimmick than a structural breakthrough, but all that crust is soft and chewy, and the pizza as a whole is a satisfying pie. The restaurant also features burgers and sandwiches and a fairly standard array of bar-food appetizers, including deep-fried cheddar cheese curds.
