Cherokee Street just produced the latest addition to its unique strip of art- and music-related shops, studios and galleries. It just doesn't want you to know exactly who/what/where it is. The group will, however, tell you why they exist. Their mission statement reads as follows:
"St. Louis Secret Sound Society is a unique collaboration of musicians, music journalists, concert promoters, bookers, graphic designers and visual artists who combine their broad ranging music experience to support and celebrate independent art in St. Louis. In the future, the group looks forward to putting on shows featuring both national and local artists, as well as, a plethora of related activities to further enrich the blossoming Cherokee Street community."
Tonight, Off Broadway hosts the Society's first production, which is a show to benefit medical treatment for Tony Perolio (formerly of Jon Hardy and the Public). The Hibernauts (who are no strangers to fundraising), Jon Hardy and the Public and Kid Scientist will play, and there will a be a raffle for those who attend. Doors open at 8:30, and the show starts at 9:00. Tickets for the show are $10.
To further entice you, attendance at this show gets you the next clue in a scavenger hunt revealing more about the Secret Society's identity. The society's first clue is that they reside somewhere between Firecracker Press and Antiques Row... Hmmmmm...
