Jimmy Carter to Make Second Visit to Left Bank Books

Former president and peanut farmer-turned-diplomat Jimmy Carter will be at the downtown location of Left Bank Books on February 10.

Carter will talk about his latest book, We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land: A Plan That Will Work. Appropriate timing for such a book, with its instruction manual-like title.

It's not the first time the former president has appeared at a Left Bank signing. Carter was last at Left Bank's Central West End location in 2001. LB's new downtown location is about 1,500 square feet larger. The upcoming event will be a signing only, as was the previous engagement.

There are 1,600 tickets available; purchase of a copy of We Can Have Peace is required, says Danielle Borsch, events coordinator for Left Bank.

New York Senator and Secretary of State-nominee Hillary Clinton was at Left Bank in 2003. Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright visited in October.

"We're thrilled to have some one of his caliber in our store again. Especially with what's going on in the Gaza Strip and around the world in general, it's a perfect time to have someone doing such important work here," Borsch says.

Bike riders out there might want to ask Jimmy what happened to his bike.

The Left Bank press release is after the jump.
