The streets of the Delmar Loop closed to motorists on Saturday to allow St. Louisans to do what they do every day: Get stoned. The sweet smell of cannabis sifted through the air as hundreds of people lit up their blunts for the Loop 420 Street Festival. Delmar Boulevard between Kingsland Avenue and Skinker Boulevard was lined with local vendors dishing out cannabis-infused products, pre-rolled joints and art.
Local glass blowers displayed their craftsmanship and, mere minutes later, their hard work would be put to good use by friendly stoners packing their pipes. On the Emporium Smoke Shop main stage, reggae and ska bands played for a sufficiently blazed crowd, while food trucks and restaurants hustled to feed people who'd developed the munchies.
St. Louis doesn’t need a festival to celebrate getting high — in fact, the Loop on festival day smelled like the Loop every day. Nonetheless, stoners shared their appreciation for the magical plant by sharing their buds with their buds, and that's always beautiful to see.
